Quenched

For I will give you abundant water to quench your thirst and to moisten your parched fields. And I will pour out my Spirit and my blessings on your children.  They will thrive like watered grass, like willows on a riverbank. (Isaiah 44:3-4)
Empty, dry, deserted.  Sometimes my spirit feels exhausted.  It happens when I pour myself out.  It happens when I am faced with an extreme situation.  But it often happens when the winds of life pick me up and I don't step foot on the ground for what feels like an eternity.  Daily life can wring me dry.  But when I remember my First Love and run to his refuge, I am quenched.  My parched, dry, weary heart is filled again, and I know.  I know that I am loved, cared for, planned for, and overwhelmed by refreshment.
Sometimes, I even think that God wants us to realize our desert-state.  Then, we really realize our need for him and when we are quenched by him...

But then I will win her back once again. I will lead her out into the desert and speak tenderly to her there. (Hosea 2:14)

  8. Thank you for the interest in my blog!
This is really beautiful, I can see that you're heart is with God and it is refreshing!

For a lot of my Christian walk my relationship with God could be described as "Those on the rock are the one's who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in time of testing, they fall away." (Luke 8:13) But In the past year and a half I have come to long God, a deep relationship with a solid foundation. It is word of encouragement like yours that really brighten my day and see how special this Love is!

  10. I can't even tell you how much of a revelation this has become in my life in the past couple of days. I was reading a book my Beth Moore the other day and there was a quote that said, "Desperation can be the sweetest gift God ever offers you." That was so something that I could relate to & very true. I wrote it really big on a piece of paper & hung it on my wall so it's a continuous reminder for why we might go through dry seasons. Thank you so much for writing about this Sarah Ann.

  12. Very encouraging. It's so true though... the winds of life can often grab us so fast that before we know what's happening, it's over and we're left feeling like we've been running a race non-stop for days on end. It's so good to know that God is waiting there to renew our strength and cover us with love. :)

  13. just love this!! i've been dry from a few of those random home ownership problems that come up....grr. (heat pump and AC all out in one day). I am so, so thankful the Lord quenches our souls each day as the world tries to bog us down. What amazing love! Thanks so much for the sweet reminder!

  15. This is such a great post and even though it's from a couple of weeks ago, I feel like it is where I am right now. So thankful that God shows us when we are parched and is always there to quench our thirst.
