true love

I wanted to be a wife as far back as I can remember.  I wanted a man that would tell me how beautiful I was and how much he loved me. I wanted to make him dinner and vacuum a house and iron his clothes for him.  I wanted to cuddle on the couch.
I had really high expectations of love and marriage.  I longed for an intense commitment that got me heartbroken before I found my husband.
I blame my parents.

Today is their anniversary, I'm sure that whatever they do will be romantic, no matter how simple or inexpensive.
I'm so thankful for their weird PDAs my whole life, and for the way that my dad just dotes on my mom.  I love the way you would walk around the corner and he'd be chasing after her in the kitchen.  I love their openness with how cute they think the other one is.
I also love their shared goals.  They love people and dedicate their life to them.  They have taught us so much about selflessness.
I also blame them for my wonderful view of marriage.  And for my desire to stick everything out.  And for my second-nature to run toward God for answers.
They're my heroes.

  11. Happy Anniversary to the gorgeous and very happy couple! I'm glad you have such a high view of marriage. I wish that my parents had the love that my husband and I do, but hey sometimes love doesn't last forever.

The hubs and I make our relationship better by growing with one another rather than growing apart from one another. I love him... he's my world and I hope one day my children view me as you view your parents.

  23. First off, what a lovely blog! What a sweet post about your parents. I just read an article in a magazine, forgot which one, but it was all about how you should let your children see you kissing and showing affection, and all of the benefits it will have on them in the long run. Thanks for the comment on my blog!

This world needs examples of faithful covenant... and those couples need to be applauded for stickin' it out.
I have to admit, I'm thankful that they "ruined" you about your thoughts on marriage. ;)
