Out of Control

There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, "Thy will be done," and those to whom God says, "All right, then, have it your way." (C.S. Lewis)
One of my habits is worrying.  I am a pro at it.
Because of this and my personality, I'm also a pro at telling God what to do.  I always know what should happen.  I would really like everything to work out this way, or that way.
And then I remember who I am.  And how human my desires are.  And how much I really don't want my own way.  Really.
My ultimate goal today:  Trust.  Believe HE is who he says he is.  Remember that I never had control in the first place.  It's not even mine to relinquish.  It's just my place to acknowledge, understand, and rest.
What freedom there is in this trust.  I can breathe easily knowing that I don't have any control over the way that things turn out.
The best part of this though, is that my God, the one in control, knows me personally and has the best plan.  When I worry, he takes me in his arms.  He doesn't tell me to perk up.  He simply comforts me.
You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book. (Psalms 56:8)

Join me today in casting our worries on him.  My God's arms are spread wide enough to hold you, too.

  3. I love this. I worry a lot too and have recently discovered if I just let go of worrying and give it to Him, that He WILL take care of it in His time. :o)

  4. WOW! This is EXACTLY what I needed to hear today. Don't you marvel at how God can use you to touch me with your words, without you even knowing it!

I try to make my daily mantra "Worry doesn't add peace to tomorrow, but it does drain your strength from today!"

Hope your day is worry free!

  5. Jer 29:11 - I came across this verse the other day when I was in the midst of worry. I know it well but conveniently forget it all the time. I too am a pro-worrier sometimes I forget who's the boss!

  14. Love this. I can certainly relate...and I agree it is so reassuring to have a God who doesn't say, "Perk up." I've definitely learned to let the tears fall. Thanks for sharing.

  16. we have a saying around here-- "4:6 it." As in Philippians 4:6 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." So when someone's worrying we tell them to 4:6 it-stop worrying and give it to GOd : )
