William & Mercy

When I read Kelly's topic for this week's Show Us Your Life Friday, I had to participate!  We are sharing the names we want for our future children!
I make the poor husband talk about this all of the time, so we've finally settled on at least two.
I like abnormal names, and I want them to have lots of meaning.

Billy is one in a long line of Williams, so it must be continued.  So far, none of them have been called Will, so I'm super excited.
We like Judah because it has Biblical meaning:
-It means "Praised"
-Judah was chosen to be in the line of Jesus (Genesis 49:10)
Plus, I love this verse:
Stop weeping! Look, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the heir to David's throne, has conquered.
(Revelation 5:5)

We love Mercy because, well, it means Mercy, and we believe in a name being a legacy.
My dad had a little sister named Carmen who died from cancer when she was eight.  I was the first granddaughter, and have been told I look like she did (or would have, since nobody knows for sure).  Whether I truly do or not, my grandparents mean a lot to me, and so does preserving her memory.
It's also a really beautiful name.

Of course, none of this is set in stone.  We're just dreaming.

  1. Those are both lovely names!! I love that yours have meaning!

The names I love don't really have any meaning...I just love them... :)

    Happy Friday!

  2. I love the name Mercy!! We have hours and hours of baby name talk in our house, okay well I talk and he listens and nods. We have finally picked out 2 boy names and 2 girl names since we don't know if we will get boys or girls, pick out four names that all sound good together and they we love equally is HARD WORK!

  3. great names! My nephew is a Judah.:) I'm big on different names. Go to howmanyofme.com and you can see how many kids in the US have the same name. There is only 1 Micah Franke and 1 Skylar Franke. I love that!

  4. Names with meaning are so special! Love it!

  5. I love both of your names, but Mercy is my favorite! That is a beautiful name.

  6. Beautiful names! I also live the name Judah!

  7. I love those names. I really like the more unique names. More and more parents are picking them these days. It's been pretty cool to see the names people come up with.

  8. These are really pretty names! I like different names too since my name is kind of different I guess thats why I'm always drawn to unique names

  9. Gorgeous, unique, and meaningful names. What combination could be better?

  10. dreaming up our future kids names is one of our favorite pastimes :)

i love the ones you've picked out. will(iam) is a favorite of mine, though not on our future kiddos list.

are you naming him william or just will? it's fun when people name their children just the nicknames, but william is great, too.

  11. Thanks Sarah for your sweet comment on my blog! =) Love yours too and your blog designs!
Great names you have picked out!! I like abnormal too!! =P

  12. You have picked out two beautiful names. I love how meaningful they both are.

  13. beautiful names with so much meaning!!! can't wait for you to put them in action. : )

  14. Ooooh beautiful names!! I REALLY love Mercy!!! Will is just too adorable as well!! THanks for the comment on my blog!

  16. what awesome names!!! :) i think Mikey and I have found two (one girl and one boy) that we really love...I just love names with meaning...in the name itself or the legacy it carries!! we're loving Michael Isaiah and Esther Rahel (she'll go by Essie). Family names are just so cool!!!

  17. I just love these names! I love that they actually have meaning behind them, and weren't just picked at random.

Speaking of baby names... Did you hear that Cullen is becoming a popular baby name, thanks to Twilight? lol

  18. Derek and I also love dreaming up names for our future children - so far we like Sloan Danielle for a girl and Noah Ward for a boy - both are traditional family names.

  19. Love the names and an adorable blog...am now following and want to come back and read more...Stopping by to say Happy Mother's Day...
Have a few hours to blog hop and nothing makes me happier.
I have a GREAT GIVEAWAY that I will be drawing for on Sunday night.

  20. oh, what fun the name game was - me and my hubby never did agree on a girls name for either pregnancy - good thing we got boys BOTH times! ;)

We've got Owen David and Elijah (called Eli) Henry

both boys have part of their Daddies name!

I've got a freind whose daughter is named Mercy!

  21. I LOVE both names! So fun and unique.

  22. beautiful names. I love when I hear names that I can't think of anyone I know with that name..just seems to have more meaning. I've never heard of a Mercy. adorable!! I am all about preserving family legacy and the biblical meaning behind names. We talk about this ALL the time too. I will be crazy woman about name creating when the time comes for kiddos.

  23. I love the little boy name that you guys chose! Our names our Hannah Elizabeth and Josiah David! Nothing to crazy, but Josiah is definetly not normal either!

Thanks for stopping by my blog :)

Your words make my heart smile.
